Walking football has given me a new lease on life. To wear an England shirt at my age (over 60) and still represent my country is a privilege I never take for granted.”

Former Manchester United and Nottingham Forest striker Peter Davenport has been appointed as England Walking Football's Ambassador. Davenport, who also plays for England's Over 60s walking football team, brings a wealth of experience and passion to his new role.
Davenport's professional football career spanned over two decades, during which he made significant contributions to several clubs. At Nottingham Forest, he scored 54 goals in 118 league appearances, leading as the club's top scorer in the 1983–84 and 1984–85 seasons. His performance earned him a transfer to Manchester United in 1986, where he finished top scorer in 1986-87. Overall, he netted 26 goals in 82 matches.
Beyond these clubs, Davenport also played for Middlesbrough, Sunderland, appearing in the 1992 FA Cup Final, before a stint in Scottish football, amassing a total of 497 league appearances and 130 goals throughout his career. On the international stage, he earned a cap for the England national team in 1985, setting up Gary Lineker's first ever England goal.
Transitioning to walking football, Davenport continues to showcase his dedication to the sport. His involvement with the England Over 60s team highlights his commitment to promoting active lifestyles among older adults.
